Just another trip to Paradise!

Friday evening we drove up to Paradise. We stopped by Taylor's parents and visited with them a little bit before heading to Grandma and Papa's house. We put Sage to bed and then relaxed and watched What About Bob. That is one of our favorite movies. Saturday Taylor went over and helped his dad for a couple hours in the yard. Sage and I visited with Grandma and Papa. Grandma made yummy breakfast burritos. So delish. Taylor joined us and we all visited. Papa helped us paint a ladder that we are going to use to display pictures in Sage's room. Taylor helped Papa outside and Grandma and I tried a new recipe of German Cabbage Burgers which turned out so yummy. Jeanne had a Young Women's activity, but Tony came over to join us. Sage took great naps while we were there and we found a use for her pac n play. She refuses to sleep in it, but we put her in it to play and she loved it. I am so glad because Grandma and Papa have a big dog, Scruffy, so we didn't have to worry about him loving her too much. We love our trips to Paradise.

I have the greatest job in the whole world...

taking care of this sweet baby girl. Of course there are moments of frustration, but I am so blessed to be able to stay home with our Sage. I am grateful for all of Taylor's hard work and dedication to provide for our family. I always make comments about how much I love being Sage's mommy, but let it be known that I love being Taylor's wife just as much!

So You Think You Can Dance

Last night the four of us girls... Jodie, Jill, Lexi and I went and saw So You Think You Can Dance. We got to see the top 10 performers from this past season. I never watch the show, but it was still a lot of fun to watch the dancing and such talent. Jodie was given the tickets and was nice to take us. We had a good time.

2 + 1

= 3 teeth!!!

Our little bug has another tooth coming in! She has two on the bottom and we just discovered one more on top that has just broke through. As sad as we are to see her cute, toothless grin go away, it is exciting to watch her grow and see those cute little teeth making themselves at home inside that little mouth of hers!

The weekend

Friday night the Peterson's had us, along with three other couples, over for dinner/game night. It was a lot of fun. We had pizza, salad and lots of yummy treats. We played Minute to Win It, The Newlywed Game and Telestrations. Caitlin and Andrew had everything planned our perfectly and it was so much fun. We had a good time laughing and visiting with friends. Right as we were getting ready to head out to the Peterson's we received a call from a man who was interested in getting 2 autos, home, earthquake and an umbrella! He responded from a door hanger! Our first response from a door hanger and those policies made it worth it! Saturday we attended the funeral of Taylor's Aunt Mary Lou who passed away on Wednesday. What a remarkable woman she was. I wish I had the opportunity to know her better. I am grateful to have been able to attend her funeral and hear such wonderful tributes to her by her children and see all the love and support from so many people that she had influenced in her life. How grateful we are for the knowledge of the gospel that brings so much comfort. How comforting it is to know that we can be reunited with our families forever. Today after church we packed a picnic and drove up Big Cottonwood Canyon. The Fall colors are so beautiful! It has been a nice, relaxing Sunday- a perfect end to the weekend!

Our Little Lady!

A typical day

The Sunday School lesson this past Sunday was on Eternal Marriages and we discussed family history a little bit as well. Someone brought up about journal writing and how it is hard sometimes because her day consisted of changing diapers and going to the store, so she said sometimes she feels there isn't anything to write about. I think this is very true, but I also think it is nice to read other people's "every day" activities that may not be that exciting, because it makes me feel like my life is normal and I am not the only one doing "every day" tasks. Please feel free to skip this post if you are not interested in reading a very normal, typical day. Today is just beginning. We all slept in a little and woke up a little after 7. Yes, 7 o'clock is a wonderful blessing in our home these days when our baby girl wakes up anywhere between 5:30-6:30 a.m. I went to the gym and did the elliptical for a half hour and then came home and Taylor got ready for work and I put Sage down for a nap in our closet. That's right. She has been napping in our closet the past few days. She still does not nap great, but she naps better in the dark, and since she doesn't like her pac n play, she is all nested on a pile of blankets on the floor. I need to look into getting black out blinds for her room, but until then she naps in our closet. When she gets up I will feed her some sweet potato and then she will probably play in her excersaucer in the kitchen while I clean up a little. I always put on Pandora and she listens to Disney Music. Sometimes she rocks back and forth and shakes her head like she is dancing. It is the cutest thing. Then we will both get ready for the day. I usually would try and quickly get ready while she naps for 20 minutes, but with her in my closet... I sit in here my sweats. Then we will go for a walk and she will kick her legs and cry when I buckle her in the stroller. She will be fine once we get walking. Towards the end of our walk she will start to fuss because it will be getting close to time for her to have a bottle and unwind for another nap. And that will be our morning. Yesterday, she napped just long enough for me to dry my hair and read scriptures and she was up. We went to Michael's Craft Store to get some white paint for a craft and then to the store to get a few things for dinner. Every time I put Sage in and out of the car she arched her back and kicked her legs. She does not like being strapped down, but does fine once she is in, but she has to at least put up a fight and let me know she does not like it. I made yummy enchiladas and made a few extra for a neighbor who just had surgery. When we got home Sage played and I cleaned up, vacuumed, and cleaned the bathroom. She took an afternoon nap that was a wonderful 40 minutes while I made some chocolate chip pumpkin muffins and got dinner ready to be put into the oven later. When she got up she watched her Baby Signs and we waited for her Aunt Jill and cousin Lacie to come over. We did a little Halloween Craft with the girls. We painted Sage and Lacie's little feet and made them into little ghosts. Super easy, but so cute. Sage had some carrots for dinner and we visited with Jill. Taylor got home right after Jill left and he gave our little bug a bath and got her ready for bed. After feeding her and putting her down Taylor and I had dinner and watched an episode of The Office. I went to the gym and then came home and got ready for bed. I read as Taylor fell asleep and I nagged him to get up and get ready for bed and he kept insisting he was not sleeping! I love our life, even if it is a little less than exciting. I am so gateful that I am able to stay home with our girl even though there are moments of frustration when she does not nap, throws little fits, drops her toy off her highchair over and over and over again and wants me to get it, scratches my face and pulls my hair , spits her food out or when she cries or fusses when I leave the room.. There are so many more moments of her looking at me with a big smile on her face, watching her learn something new, listening to her cute little laugh, scream with excitement, cuddling with her and her holding my finger as I feed her, sitting and reading to her, watching her splash in the tub, the sweet baby smell she still has, the way her eyes follow me around the room... I wouldn't trade those moments for anything in the world. I am so grateful for Taylor's hard work and dedication to support us. I love being a wife and a mother. I love being Taylor's wife and being Sage's mommy.

What a good day!

Today Grandma and Papa came down from Paradise for a visit. They brought us yummy cinnamon burst bread and rasberry swirl bread, the best chocolate truffles and ingredients to make my grandma's homemade mac and cheese. They are so thoughtful. We had a really nice time visiting with them. Sage always loves the extra attention and loves to show off. We visited and had lunch and the Cheesecake Factory. So delish! We got two pieces of cheesecake and shared. We were all so full. Hopefully we can get up to Paradise in a couple weeks and visit some more. Afterwards, Jill and Dan watched Sage for us for a couple hours. We went and walked around the Gateway and just looked around and talked. Toyota was there with a special promotion. They were looking for people to test drive vehicles and giving $10 gift cards for filling out a survey. We test drove the Toyota 4Runner, which is the car I would love next and both filled out a quick 5 question survey and both received a $10 card. Easiest $20 bucks we ever made! We went and spent one card at Starbucks. Taylor got the Strawberry Creme and I got the Pumpkin Creme. So yummy! What a good day!

Gardner Village

Today we went to Gardner Village to walk around and see the witch displays. It was such a nice day to be outside and visit together. It was a lot of fun.

Our pretty princess!

Aunt Ann sent Sage this adorbale shaw and hat with pretty pink fluff. Thanks again! She loves it! Could she get any cuter?

Rub -a -dub -dub, colored cubes in the tub!

I often find so many cute, fun ideas but I don't often do anything with them. I have decided that if I am going to spend any time looking at blogs for ideas, that I am going to have to start doing something with the ideas I find. So, I started with something simple. Colored ice cubes in the tub for Sage. She enjoyed trying to pick them up before the melted away and we enjoyed watching her.

A Splendid Weekend

The weekend is coming to an end, but we are excited for what this coming week has to bring! Friday night we were going to go to my mission reunion, but Sage was in bed and we couldn't find a babysitter until too late. Kylie was so sweet to come over last minute and keep an ear out for Sage while she slept. 2 Fridays in a row we got to go on a date! Taylor and I went and got a bite to eat at Wing Coop, which was so tasty. We will be going there again. We were going to go bowling too, but decided to walk around Target instead. Wierd, huh? We looked at Blu-Ray players, DVD's, books, a baby doll for our girl, car seats... When we got home we watched a couple episodes of The Office! Season 7 is finally on Netflix.
-------------------------------------------------
Saturday morning Taylor went into work for a few hours and then we went and looked around Ikea in the afternoon, ran a few errands and relaxed. We went to our friends Andrew and Caitlin's for dinner and to watch the BYU game. We had lasagna, yummy bread sticks from The Pizza Factory and Cesar Salad. Caitlin and I made delicious and beautiful chocolate bowls that turned out sooo good. We served yummy carmel ice-cream and sprinkles in them. We also played a card game during the second half of the game. Our Cougars won! We put Sage down there around 7:30 and she slept until 11:00 when we had to wake her up to go home. She went right back to sleep when we put her in her crib until about 4 in the morning to eat. She is such a good girl and so easy going most of the time.
-------------------------------------------------
Today we went to church. Sunday school's lesson was on missionary work, which I unfortunately did not get to hear because I was walking the halls trying to put Sage to sleep, but Taylor said it was good. Relief Society we talked about the tender mercies of the Lord. It was such a beautiful lesson. I know that the Lord knows and loves us. Taylor's lesson in Priesthood was on service. Lucky him! We were both asked to speak next Sunday in Sacrament Meeting and service is the topic. We look forward to it. After church we relaxed and napped. We tried to go and see the grandma's, but neither of them were home. We made chocolate chip pumpkin muffins and took a walk and delivered them to several neighbors. We made a yummy dinner of the most delicious chicken we have ever eaten and the salad I had made for the night before to bring to the Peterson's that I forgot. We had to pick up ice-cream and stuff for the bowls, so we picked up a salad too. We also enjoyed a couple muffins too. Weekends are the best.

Two in a tub

Lacie came over to play with us last week. We loved having her over and Sage loved to have a friend to play in the tub with her.

My favorite reason to lose sleep

I do not like to nap and I do not even like to sleep in very late, but I do love my sleep from 11-7. I get kind of mean in the middle of the night. I have heard it is a myth that teething keeps babies from sleeping, but I will make that excuse for Sage since she cannot defend herself. She has been such a good baby so I really should not complain, but these past couple weeks she has been an awful napper during the day, but the best sleeper at night. Except for the past couple nights. She has been awful. She was like this right after our California trip, but then got back on schedule until recently. We don't know what her deal is. She has been driving me a little crazy. The last several days have been long and the nights even longer. However, I don't think I could lose sleep for anything or anyone else. She has us wrapped around her little fingers. She is so spoiled, but I think babies are supposed to be spoiled to a certain extent. Even though I was a lot a bit mean to Taylor last night (I really do not mean to be. I just don't think rationally in the middle of the night) he took Sage for a drive through the canyon this morning so I can have a little time to myself this morning. They even surprised me with a yummy spinach bagel from Einstein's. Sage of course did not nap any more than the little bit she did in the car during their excursion, but she has been napping this afternoon since 1:00 and it is 2:40 now. She really is a good girl. She is my favorite!

Growing up

Today in the car Sage was fussing, so at the red light I reached my hand back to her. She put my hand in her mouth and I felt something sharp! She has two teeth coming in on the bottom. You can feel them and can see them. They have already broke through. It's no wonder she has been extra cranky! And then this evening I had given her a bath and was trying to get her jamies on, but she had saw her bottle and was kicking her legs and throwing her arms up and down, as she did the panting thing she does when she gets excited. I got her arms through and handed her the bottle and told her to hold it so I could put her legs in and get her all buttoned up... and she did! She held her bottle. I sat next to her on the couch while she drank most of the bottle by herself. It was the cutest thing ever. She kept taking it out and then putting it back in her mouth just to show off that she could do it! Such a doll!

General Conference Weekend October 2011

Friday night Jeanne and Grandma Sargent watched Sage for us while we went to a screening of Footloose. It is such a fun movie. It was nice to go out without Sage. We needed it. We need more of it! Saturday morning we went up to Paradise to watch General Conference. It was nice to relax and spend time with family. This evening for Family Home Evening Taylor and I summarized the messages that were shared over the weekend and discussed how we are going to incorporate the messages into our lives. We set some goals. We are grateful for the Gospel. It truly is a Gospel of hope and happiness. The Gospel motivates us to be better!

Sugarhouse Park

We went and walked around Sugarhouse Park this afternoon. We have been walking a lot around the neighborhood, but it was a nice to change to walk somewhere else and get some fresh air. Sage enjoyed watching the ducks. It was nice to sit in the shade together and watch her curious personality. She is so much fun.

7 months

Dear Sage bug,
7 months! We can’t believe it! This month you went on your first vacation, which included your first time on a plane. You were awesome. We went to California and you visited with your Grandpa Davey, Uncle Michael and Aunt Melissa and also met Uncle Timmy, Aunt Mum and your second cousin, Nathan. You also got to see Donna and Donny and meet your new friend Kailee. You also met some of your mommy’s favorite women. You went to the beach for the first time and put your feet in the water. You have mastered sitting up. You are so much fun. You love attention and are such a little ham. You smile, laugh, wave your arms in the air and kick your legs around just to get a smile. You do not like taking naps. You fight it every day unless you fall asleep drinking your bottle. Because of this you are often grouchy. You are feisty. When you get mad you slam your feet up and down. You are an awesome night sleeper though. We do let you cry it out, but you do not usually cry too long and are usually asleep around 6:30 and do not wake up until early morning to eat and then go back to sleep for a couple hours. You love to put everything in your mouth. While driving in the car you often find your hair bows and take them off and try and eat them. They are always soaked after a car ride. You do not show any interest in moving yet. You love to eat fruit, but are not a huge fan of veggies. Some of your favorite fruit is bananas and peaches. You do like yams and sweet potatoes. You also like to eat paper. You are drinking more and more. You can drink 6 ounces without any problems. You still spit up often, but do we dare say you are spitting up less? We are pretty convinced your eyes are going to stay blue like your daddy's. A lot of people think you look more and more like your daddy every day. We have been doing baby signs with you. You love to watch your baby signs video. It is only 15 minutes and it is the only television you watch, but you are glued to it. You love going to your book baby class at the library each week. It is so fun to watch you watch the other children and listen to the stories and songs. You enjoy sitting on your daddy’s shoulders and can sit up there without him supporting your back. Your Great Grandma Jackie fed you some peach cobbler. Needless to say you loved it. You won’t be getting any more of that though… You are taking your binkie less and less when going to sleep. You never take it in the day. You love taking walks with your mommy. You are so observant and alert. You have a fun, outgoing personality. You are a little social butterfly and have fan clubs wherever we go. We love your our Sage girl!

Love, Mommy and Daddy
